Meditations on presence and absence are unifying themes in the work of our Fine Art seniors. Lily Streaker’s paintings depict the landscape of India as she experienced it, preserving the emotional response of being there as her memories inevitably fade; Becca Keifer’s dioramas place viewers in the habitat of endangered or extinct birds, reminding viewers of our impact on the natural world; the mixed media works of Tiara Perez form a shrine; each component embodies fragments of memories, but together the work pays tribute to her mother as the glue that once held her family together; and finally Catherine Weaver’s Climate Arcade is an interactive series of sculptural works that show the viewer our current climate crisis is not a game.
